Hi! I'm Ginell Butler

Executive Director | Senior Moments Inc.

Established in 2014, Senior Moments Inc., is a mission-driven non-profit 501( c ) (3) consulting firm providing social services and geriatric health care resources and referrals to elderly and aging.  Our mission is to promote access to affordable, comprehensive, high quality coverage, care and to advocate inputting domestic plans and resources /reference/referrals in place for sick and elderly persons who live alone or need domestic help. We pursue clients that enable our firm to stay true to that mission.

Senior Moments Inc. offers five types of services for seniors.  Specifically, Senior Moments assigns a Gerontologist (a professional who specializes in the field of aging related dimensions of change over the lifespan and uses that knowledge to help elderly patients and clients maintain their quality of life).

​The Gerontologist assesses, evaluates and advises seniors on:

  • ​Veterans Benefits
  • Administering of Social Services, i.e. Long-term care insurances, Medicare, Medi-cal, Social Security, Estate planning
  • Geriatric Health Care, i.e. provide resources and referrals for Caregiving, Hospice, Elder Abuse (prevention and deterrence)
  • Housing, i.e. provide resources and referrals for assisted living, independent living and other senior housing
  • Training for Career Development
  • Speaker / Presentations

Ginell Butler is a Gerontologist and is the Executive Director of Senior Moments, Inc. a nonprofit consulting firm that advocates for social services, Geriatric healthcare and finances for the elderly and aging since 2013. Ms. Butler holds a Master of Aging Services Management (MASM) from the University of Southern California (USC) Leonard Davis school of Gerontology.  Ms. Butler also holds a Master of Science Administration (MSA) degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills and a BA degree in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine.

Ginell Butler is the former Lead Senior Project Manager of AARP, the nation’s largest association for people over fifty. She managed large to mid-size portfolios and projects for all AARP business and IT projects. Ms. Butler led the $6 million revitalization and redevelopment initiative of AARP’s mail operation center and the $350,000 project and thirty team members for the purchase of a new disk mainframe, which achieved revenue growth for the membership initiative resulting in 10,000-15,000 new member accounts and increased gross revenue up to $300,000. A respected departmental lead, during her AARP tenure, Ms. Butler became the 2012 recipient of the AARP IT Team Award and the 2010 recipient of the IT Excellence Award. Ms. Butler has worked in the private and non-profit sectors for 20+ years. 

She is the former Senior Business Systems Facilitator of Kaiser Permanente Health Foundation. As Senior Business Systems Facilitator, Ms. Butler developed project management, strategic planning, business development, and client relationship management for business and IT divisions for 5 years before moving to AARP. It was her work at Kaiser that inspired the gift of being service oriented and the need to do more “mission minded” work with a focus on those who are in the aging capacity, coupled with the volunteer and ecumenical work in Churches and Community Senior Centers, in Southern, California. She led and developed a Multimedia Center for seniors at the Presbyterian Church and Synod of Southern California, where she was awarded the Hampton Barnett Hawes Award for her service on the Black Advisory Committee.

Ms. Butler addresses everyday issues facing the aging population including health, housing, hunger, advocacy, and service challenges. Ms. Butler’s Master of Aging Services Management (MASM) degree from USC helped build the solid foundation needed for the caliber of expertise she brings to Senior Moments, Inc as its subject matter expert in Gerontology. Ms. Butler’s goal as the Executive Director of Senior Moments, Inc. is to create and deliver premium service to aging communities. Her innovation in domestic planning and cultivation of sustainable resources for seniors with a wide range of needs that range from social services to guidance through challenging healthcare systems. This level of service is key for elders who live alone, need domestic help, and/or guidance through the healthcare journey.

Ms. Butler is inspired by a void she saw in services and care for her extended family of elders grappling with numerous chronic diseases, such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s, as well as other illnesses impacting other quality of life including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chronic stress, and anxiety. Ginell has a passion for finding solutions to chronic diseases and aging in the African American community. She also brings great administrative experience. She is an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha National Sorority, USC, CSUDH and UCI Black Alumni Associations, and various organizations for aging, such as the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and Gerontological Society of America, AARP, Alzheimer’s Associations, and the local Senior Centers across the greater Los Angeles area. She is active in her local neighborhood association and served as president of those associations for several years. Ms. Butler has written numerous podcasts/blogs on all issues of aging in the 21st century, she may be reached through several media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. She enjoys history and culturally based works such as film and live theatre. She currently resides in Southern California and travels the world collecting data on diverse cultural practices of Gerontology.
